Doodles of characters I always think about, but never get around to putting in a comic format. Dr. Thantos is one of my favourite characters. He steals dreams and I just want to tell everyone about him and his tragic relationship with his comatose sister, but yeah.

How About That of the Day: A “lightning flower” is a Lichtenberg Figure — or electric discharge pattern — that occurs on the skin of lightning strike victims, most likely as a result of small capillaries bursting from the intensity of the bolt’s current.

Lauren HermeleOn Different Groundfollows a family’s transition from NYC “post 9-11, to Pawlet, Vermont. Hermele describes how this series ‘deals with the idea of home and a sense of being in the right place,’ concepts that are hard to define, let alone convey visually. ‘Over the years, as both this project and this family’s life have  evolved, these photos continue to move beyond the boundaries of their initial post-9-11 framework onto contemplating a transplanted life and the idea of home in rural America,’ says Hermele, who was recently named one of PDN’s 30: New and Emerging Photographers to Watch.”

the romanovs: an hbo mini-series
i’ll pretend, i tell myself. pretending is safer than believing.

They came for us at night. We didn’t know where we were going. Father keeps a stern face, but mother clutches at his arm and his eyes, too, show fear. Alexei is crying, and Anastasia tries very hard not to. They’re both so strong. Tatiana keeps quiet beside me, and I feel her tremble. When they push us inside the cars, Maria gasps, then sobs, until I, too, can’t hold back my tears. I look over my shoulder, past the armed men behind us, out the small window at the back of the car. The night is dark, but I know that the Palace stands there, shrouded in mist and the changing tide. I’m afraid.

The fall of an empire; the last days of the Romanov family through the eyes of Princess Olga. Sean Bean as Nicholas II, Vera Farmiga as Alexandra, Jennifer Lawrence as Olga, Elizabeth Olsen as Tatiana, Freya Mavor as Maria, Hailee Steinfeld as Anastasia, Asa Butterfield as Alexei.

+ Shuffle and a Movie Poster → penny-hartz requested Karen Gillan and Jennifer Lawrence (Float by Broken Bells).

Alice Bareno (Karen Gillan) never much concerned herself with growing up. She slid through university on a charming smile and has landed herself a job at the one of the top fashion magazines in London, where she spends most of her time buying drinks on the company dime. But when her father unexpectedly shows up at the door of her flat, with his new American wife on his arm, Alice’s easy, juvenile life is no longer quite so simple. Suddenly she is stuck with her new step sister Psolde (Jennifer Lawrence), a recent college graduate, who needs a place to stay in the city while she decides what to do with her life. In this dark comedy, the two women struggle to tolerate each other and, begrudgingly, confront the looming inevitability of growing up.
